Salicylic – derived from acetylsalicylic acid, or aspirin is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA). It is oil (lipid) soluble – which AHA are not. This allows the BHA to penetrate oily pores and help to exfoliate the pore itself. It breaks down the ‘glue’ that causes breakouts and oily, uneven skins. It helps the cell to let go of the excess sebum that oily skins like to hold on to. Do NOT use this product if allergic to aspirin.
Do not use if allergic to aspirin! Discontinue any use on the face of retinol, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and alpha hydroxyls, as well as any chemical anti-aging exfoliants, eyebrow growth serums, or any "brightening" skin care products at least two to three weeks prior to any microblading/dermabrasion procedure.This formula should not be used on sensitive, peeling or compromised skin. Please always wear sunscreen.
To avoid excess peeling/irritation of the skin be careful when using salicylic acid together with abrasive soaps or cleansers, alcohol-containing products, or other topical acne or peeling products (e.g. benzoyl peroxide, resorcinol, sulfur, tretinoin), soaps or cosmetics that dry the skin.
Warning: Salicylic acid should be used with caution in patients with chronic renal (kidney) insufficiency, gastric ulcer, severe anemia, patients intolerant to salicylate or diabetes. Avoid prolonged and excessive use on large area of body or on broken or inflamed skin. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth or other mucous membrane. It should also be used with caution on extremities of patients with impaired peripheral circulation.
Note: This product is not medicine. If you are fighting extensive or persistent acne, please consult a physician. Effective medicine exists to fight acne successfully, including retinoic acid and benzoyl peroxide.
Patch testing prior to use is advised: Apply product to a small area once a day for three days to test if you are sensitive to this product. Start with one application daily. If dryness or peeling occurs reduce application to once a day or every other day. If you develop severe irritation, hives, swelling of eyes and mouth, blistering, or difficulty breathing, rinse off, cease use and consult a physician right away. Keep out of reach of children.
Sunburn Alert: This product contains a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards.
Use in evening. Apply a small dot directly on spots for visible improvement or apply a small amount over the nose and blackhead area. Best to use a drop or 2 in your moisturizer.
